David Whittington Passes

I met Dave at Sportsmans Gun Club in Winfield when he started shooting trap in 1997 we shot together during 97 – 99, Dave was always upbeat and fun to travel with. In 12 months he had bought 13 trap guns finally settling on the K-80. Dave shot 10000 singles, 6700 Handicap and 4750 Doubles.

David Lee Whittington, 69 of Scott Depot WV, passed away on September 17, 2021. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Ernestine Erwin Whittington and brothers, Jeff and Danny Whittington. He was retired from the US Post Office as a mail handler, he enjoyed conquering many hobbies, such as skeet and Trapshooting shooting, golfing and most recently learning the guitar, although his favorite was restoring antique vehicles. Dave proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War serving from 1970 – 1973. As an Organ Donor, he gave the ultimate gift to others by donating his corneas, tissues, and bones. Dave is survived by his wife of 48 years, Karen Lynn Kessell Whittington, their fur baby K9 Annie, his sister in-law, Jeanie Gibbs (George), and his niece, Natasha Kepler (Jeff). Funeral service for Dave will be 2:00pm Friday September 24, 2021, at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane. A private family burial will be at Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, WV. The family will accept friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
